Celebrating Norwegian Immigration &
The Slooper 200-Year Anniversary
October 3-5, 2025
A three-day weekend of Norwegian cultural fun featuring Slooper and Fox Valley Settlement pioneer history, traditional Norwegian culture programs and craft classes, Norwegian games and movie night, “Sluppen” fun walk, Norwegian barn dance with Norwegian folk music and food, traditional Norwegian worship service, and a chance to meet descendants of the first Norwegian-American slooper immigrants at their Slooper Society annual meeting. This is a Sons of Norway District 5 Norwegian Cultural Weekend event to be held in Norway, Illinois, and sponsored by the Polar Star and Cleng Peerson Sons of Norway Lodges, the Norsk Museum, and the Slooper Society of America.

The weekend will culminate on October 5th with the 100th annual meeting of the Slooper Society of America!
The 100th annual meeting of the Slooper Society of America will be held on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 beginning at Noon at the Norway Community Building in Norway, IL.
Schedule of events:
12:00pm Sign-in and Slooper book sales
12:30pm Slooper business meeting
1:00pm A Taste of Norway Slooper luncheon, by reservation only, deadline Sept. 1 (see registration form). $20 per person. Please note that the registration fee for Friday and Saturday’s events is of course waived if you only plan to attend Sunday’s events.
2:00pm Photos and presentation of the departure of Restauration from Stavanger on July 4th, 2025.
The Norsk Museum will be open immediately following the presentation
